There once was a race of Goobers

that lived inside their computers.

They drank lots of wine and complained all the time,

even though their morals declined.

One day, with much glee, they found out how to be free,

by changing their faces to get rid of the racists.

With this new shapeshifting ability, they experienced much civility

and went through an age of tranquility.

But the truth came one day when they found they had much more to say.

Their scientists went to work without delay.

With great madness the Goobers wanted to heal the planet,

And every other problem, attempting to fix it all with gadgets.

They used their technology without impunity to yield a new opportunity

To achieve self-indulgence and passive unity.

They invented snoggeries for people dealing with poverty.

They made zigoligies to combat inequality.

Groups calling themselves “watchdogs”

used the invention of fizzlefrags and gallawags

To reduce the amount of billabong frogs coming from toe-bogs.

But still they would not shut up, their voices were never loud enough.

They’d huff and puff until their throats were rough.

With the creation of the vox funnel

they were louder with an added muzzle.

Their vocalizations became less of a struggle.

Honking horns would cover their chins and noses.

“Lack of focus” and low self-esteem were their prognosis.

With added volume and sound

the Goobers were not afraid to be proud.

They could reach more crowds by speaking out loud.

New views on old news gave them a short fuse,

trumpeting over every misuse and abuse.

“Our disease is what makes us,” they squawked,

a permit for fuss and disgust.

Quacking like geese the mouth-horned Gooberese

 were constantly displeased and could never find peace.

Too much technology pushed the planet to fight back without apology.

Biology was forever altered by their own psychology.

Nature corrected her mistakes with earthquakes and outbreaks.

Enamored by heartaches they became fragile snowflakes.

Doomed was the planet that took speech for granted.

Ruined was the race that was lost in cyberspace.
